Frult Thieves Shot At.
. Samuel Allison has been bothered considerably of late by parties stealing fruit from
his orchard on the Washington road: He
engaged a man to watch the orchard, armed
with a shotgun, in order to prevent the
thieves from carrying off the fruit as fast as

the orchard and by the aid of lights proceeded to help themselves to the fruit. The
man on watch ordered them off, but instead
of leaving they began throwiog stones at
him, whereupon he fired at them, which
caused them to depart rather suddenly.
The gun was loaded with bird shot and ‘it
