Advocates of Free Coinage Should Selec Delegates From This County. Below we publish a call for a bimetallic convention to be held in San Francisco next month. The object of the convention is to promote the cause of free coinage of both gold: and silver, and it is desired that all voters who favor such a policy will interest themselves in this movement in order that each county of the State shall have a good representation in the convention. Nevada county should be well represented, and the advocates of free coinage should take the . necessary, steps to appoint delegates. The gestions as to who can be delegates and how they may be selected: : To THE VOTERS OF CALIFORNIA: The Executive Committee appointed at a meeting of citizens held at the Palace Hotel, San Francisco, upon June 20, 1895, to promote the cause of: bi-' metallism, issued a call for a State Convention, regardless of party, to be held in San Francisco August 19; 1895, at 12 o'clock M. Im order to outline a plan for assembling such convention, we submit the following: 1. Each county in the State shall. be entitled to be represented at said convention by five delegates at large and one delegate for each 500 votes or frac. tion thereof cast in said county at the last general election. 2. The only test required for a seat in said convention is that the delegate be an elector_of the county which he claims to represent, and is in favor of the free and unlimited coinage of gold and silver, with equal privileges at the mints of the United States, and with i heer functions as money, at the ratio of, 16 to 1, without waiting for any international conference, or the concurrence of any foreign power. 8. The delégates shall be selected in each nagerge 4 in such a manner as the friends of the cause in such county may determine, but‘as the -bimetallists belong to all existing political parties, and are themselves without party organization, we recommend that mass meetings of bimetallists be held throughout each county upon Saturday, August 3, 1895, for the purpose of selecting delegates to said convention, and that the Chairman and Secretary of the meeting issue a certificate to the delegates selected, which certificate will be accepted as credentials by the convention. It is important and essential that each county should have a full delegation at the convention, as in no other way can the earnest wishes of the people upon this important question be fully understood and appreciated. The time for trifling has passed and the people can and will have an inning, if they demand their rights in such a manner as to convince the political parties of the country that they are in dead earnest. and will neither follow party traditions or heed equivocal or uncertain promises, but insist upon ,candid declarations from candid men. It is well known that this contest is one in which the masses «* the people are confronted: by the moneyed powers both at home and abroad. he industrial and producing classes are clamoring at the doorr af, Congress for raliof agains e unequal privileges awarded by legislation to aggregated capital b the demonetization of silver. Every effort which wealth can inspire or money secure will be arrayed against the people in this struggle, and’ hired orators and interested intriguers will be everyor stem the tide of ‘public opinion; yet, notwithstanding this disparagement of wealth, we have an abiding faith in the justice of our eause and in the yltimate triumph of principles over pretense, of right ever iniquity. e invite all the interested parties throughout the State to correspond with our Secretary, Mr. George P. Keeney, Sixth Floor, Mills Building, San Francisco, who will furnish all necessary information, together with forms, blanks and other organizing material, free of expense, and without delay. : G. W. Baker, Chairman Executive Committee. GEORGE P. KEENEY, Secretary. Look to the Quality. This is an age of discovery and invention, Almost every day we see or hear of something new. Some of these new things are meritorious, while others are worthless and made only to sell. It behooves a person, therefore, to notice the quality of everything or to purchase only such things as are guaranteed by the seller. The freshest and finest of groceries and provisions can always . be obtained at George C, Gaylord’s,—andeverything .is guaranteed’ to be as represented, eee Information Wanted. Information is wanted of the whereabouts of Jeremiah Pendergast, a native of Ireland, who when last heard of in 1869 was stopping at the Empire Hotel, San Francisco, He is said to have worked in the mines at Copperopolis thirty-three years ago, A large sum of money is on hand ready to be turned over to said person or his lawfu heirs upon proper identification, Any information should be sent to Harry N, Morse, Detective Agency, 545—California street, ——--—~+ @@e--+ —__-___—_ #100 Reward, 100. + The reader of this paper will be pleased to learn that there is at least one dreaded disease that science has been able to cure in all its stages, and that is Catarrh. Hall’s Catarrh Cure is the only positive cure known to the medical fraternity. Catarrh being a constitutional disease, requires a constitutional treatment. Hall's Catarrh Cure is taken internally, acting directing on the blood and mucous surfaces of the system, . thereby destroying the foundation of the . disease, and giving the patient strength by building up the constitution and assisting nature in doing its work. -The -proprietors have so much faith in its curative powers, ‘that they offer One Hundred Dollars for any pase that it fails to cure. Nance of Grass Valley supplies an improved pumping engine and hoist combined, specially adapted to a depth of 1000 feet or more. The hoisting drum is driven by the crank shaft of the pump, and is put in motion by a hand lever whenever required. In this way the shafting of the pump engine serves also for the hoist; and one Pelton wheel, a steam engine, or motor does both pumping and winding so that the first outlay is very much less-than the ordinary outfit and mich more convenient to move about, being only one-half the weight. , When it gets to extent of power the pump can be attached to another en-. This world is the biggest curiosity shop that we have known anything abcut up to date, Jupiter or Saturn may be able to discount it, Perhaps, and perhaps not. It is pretty full of people who are continually tinkering with themselves—patching themselves up—so to speak, in a medicinal way. If they are constipated, bilious.or dyspeptic they rush to the nearest druggist for a violent purgative. If they are malarious they fly for relief to that ancient but ineffectual reliance—the sulphate of quinine. . This is what they shouldn’t do, What they should do is to begin and’pursue primest of alteratives and ‘anti-malarial specifies, particularly valuable also for rheumatism, neuralgia, nervousness and debility, and a promoter. of sleep and appetite beneficial to all chronic invalids, Mrs, T. One of the most laughable events is that J. J. McDonald and B. Blackman, the former Assistant Superintendent and the latter bookkeeper of the S. L. I.
