Campion, Pat — NT March 17, 1874 p2cl: Death of Pat Campion Many of our readers, says the GV UNION, knew Pat Campion, who lived at the French Lead. All who ever met him knew his integrity and honesty as a man. No better citizen could the country have than Pat Campion was. The record of his services in the Union Amy shows that he enlisted in 1862 for the war, and was discharged in 1865 because the war was over. The record shows that he was engaged in nineteen pitched battles, during the war, and that he bore himself in such a manner that he won the praise of all his superior officers. He held the position of Lieutenant during most of his service, though he started out as a private. Since the war he has resided in GV, and here he has secured the respect of all who knew him. A good soldier, a good citizen, anda brave man has gone to his honored rest. Campo, Arita saloon at 59 Commercial Street in NC, 1855; B&D. 4
