Allaire, S. F. Occupation listed as gentleman; boarded at Oriental Hotel, in NC, 1855. Allan, Albert Dunbar son of George Grant Allan and Margarite J. Allan. Allan, George Grant native of Scotland; living in Canada in 1843; returned to Europe December 1850; arrived in CA in 1853, engaged in mining until 1855; took charge of a trading post and ditch agency at Newton for David Bovyer; served one term as Supervisor of the county and two terms as Trustee of NC; T&W p211; wife Margarite J., one son Albert. Allan, Margarite J. wife of George Grant Allan; one son Albert Dunbar Allan. Allen A. V., tinner, boarded at U. S. Hotel, in NC, 1855; B&D p48. DEEDS Book 3 p346 & 347 A. V. Allen to John Henderson, recorded June 17, 1858. Allen, Albert D. DEM December 24, 1856 p2cl: With John Grove, C.H. Seymour and 3 others, rich strike at the Nevada shaft, located on Shelby Hill. Allen, B. C. listed as a miner, boarding at the Golden Gate Hotel in 1861 DIR. Allen, Charles DI March 22, 1868 p3cl: Killed by a Cave. Charles Allen, a boy aged about nine years, was killed by a cave, in a tunnel, at Canada Hill, on Friday afternoon. His father James Allen, was at work outside the tunnel, throwing dirt into the boxes, when Charles and a smaller brother brought him same apples from the house. Charley said that he would help his father, and taking a wheelbarrow he went into the tunnel with his little brother, to bring out some dirt. They did so and returned, and while in the tunnel the cave occurred. Three sets of timbers gave way, and the children were buried beneath then. The younger one was dug out alive and but slightly injured, but when Charles was found life was extinct. Deceased was a bright lad, and highly esteemed by all who knew him. GVU February 23, 1875: Fanny Green expired at GV February 21; wife of John Allen, age 35; born a slave in Moscogee Georgia; was sold with parents to Col. Wm. F.
