Chauvel, Ovide house on Spring Street between Mill and Pine Streets in NC, 1855; B&D. DEM August 20, 1856 plc3: Loss in the fire of July 19, 1856 fire, $7,000. DIL'56 DEM December 17, 1856 p4cl: Nevada Township, HOTEL DE PARIS, also house and lot on east, valuation $4,000; Hotel was located at Lot 15 Block 31, house was Lot 14, MAP. DEM December 31, 1856 p2c2 under "Theatrical", states he gives instruction in sword exercises at Boswell & Hanson's Hall, the lower end of Broad Street. HOTEL De PARIS (Ovide Chauvel Proprietor) Broad Street at the corner of Bridge Street, Nevada. This house was established in 1852 and continues to be kept in the same style which has heretofore made it the resort of all who appreciate good living comfort and cleanliness. NI October 28, 1862 p3cl: Ov.(sic) Chauval, a long time citizen of Nevada, is going to open a Hotel de Paris at Virginia City, Nevada. The landmarks of the town are fast fading away. NI February 11, 1865 p3cl: We understand fram a gentleman just fran Virginia City that 0. V. Chauval died a few days since in that city. Deceased was for a long time a resident of this city and well known to our people as the proprietor of the Hotel de Paris. 18
