Court House continued: and a splendid chandelier suspended from the entire of the roan, having six burners, will give light when it is necessary to occupy the building at night. The new Court roan will be occupied now in a very short time. NT December 4, 1864 p3cl: Removed. The Sheriff's office and appurtenances thereto belonging, were yesterday removed to the new quarters designed for it in the new County Court House. The balance of the county officers will quickly follow the Sheriff. NI December 9, 1864 p3cl: Moving.Same of our county officials, taking advantage of the clear weather yesterday the first since the storm began moved to their new quarters in the county Court House, just completed. By next Monday they will all get into their new offices. The building is one of the finest in the State, and our officers will be glad to get out of the crowded basement of the Baptist Church, where they have all been quartered since the firemore than a year in the comfortable and gay offices in the new building. NI December 11, 1864 p3cl: The New Court House. This splendid structure is now completed, excepting a few days painting, and the best part of it is that it is entirely paid for. Not a single cent is due any man who has been at work up on it. NI December 14, 1864 p3cl: Moving.Yesterday the county officers were engaged in moving into their new offices in the Court House. NI January 8, 1865 p3cl: The Brick Wall. The brick wall which is to enclose the jail and cut off outside communication with the inmates, is rapidly approaching completion. The wall is to be thirteen feet high, and to extend from the northeast corner of the Court House to the stone wall around to the northwest corner of the building, completely enclosing the jail. Ample room will be had in the yard for woodsheds for the Court House. The brick wall is a much needed improvement. NI January 24, 1865 p3cl: Calvin Nutting, of San Francisco, who has a sub-contract from Mr. Hart for putting up the boiler-iron cells, shutters and doors at the Court House, commenced work yesterday. The job will soon be completed. NI February 1, 1865 p3cl: The County Jail. The boiler iron cells of the county jail are now finished and the jail is completed. We doubt if a more secure building of the kind can be found in the State. It seems impossible that human ingenuity can devise any means of escape fran the building. For the more desperate criminals three boiler iron cells have been contructed. They are made of heavy material, and are each eight feet square. The door is secured by a combination of locks and bolts which would defy the skill of the most expert lock picker. NI February 8, 1865 p3cl: New Bell.A splendid steel bell of Sheffield manufacture arrived yesterday for the Court House. The tone is excellent and it weighs 484 pounds. it is one of the best bells every brought to this city. NT December 1, 1866 p3cl: A New Belfry. The Supervisors yesterday authorized Mr. Battis to get up plan and specifications for a belfry which is designed to erect upon the Court House building. The bell is at present exposed to the storms, and is so arranged that it may be rung by any one fram the outside; besides, the jaring of the bell has injured the jail walls, and in obedience to the recommendation of the last Grand Jury the Board proposes to erect a belfry. NI January 5, 1867 p3cl: Enlarged. The vaults in the Clerk's office and in the roam formerly occupied by the County Recorder have been united, and the entire space will be used by the Clerk for safely keeping valuable documents. NI February 20, 1867 p3cl: A Dome for the Court House. A splendid dome for the bell is to be erected upon the Court House. It 41
