Valley; a native of New York; occupation merchant; served as Assistant
Secrtary at the Desk of the State Senate at the last session of that
body.

Doane, Charles NI December 15, 1860 p3cl: Fire on Thursday Night. "The
Mountain House" in Wood's Ravine which was owned and occupied by Mr.
Bryan and family. The house was built during the quartz fever of 1851
by Messrs Charles Doane, the present sheriff of San Francisco and
Joseph Beard.

Donavan, P. J. — GVT September 10, 1855: P. J. Donavan, one of GV's oldest
citizens, expired of inflammation of the bowels. He was only sick for
two days; deceased was 42 years old; formerly from Galena, Illinois;
leaves a wife and three children.
