DRAMATIC HALL formerly a "Reading Roan", became, with expansion, the FIRST THEATRE IN TOWN.OF NEVADA; located at the northeast corner of Broad and Pine Streets on the second floor of Hamlet Davis' first building that was built on Broad Street (which replaced his tent store) the first booking was Dr. Robinson and troupe; B&D p29. NJ September 5, 1851: "The Dramatic Museum, in this city, has been occupied by Eldridge's Pioneer Co. since Friday evening. The company embraces some excellent actors, among whom are Messrs Bingham, the popular favorite Fairchilds, McClooky, Eari, Byers, etc., as well as the talented lady of the proprietor, formerly Mrs. Mestayer." NJ March 6, 1852: "NEW ORLEANS SERENADERS This company, who have given general satisfaction to all who have patronized them in the cities below, are now in Nevada, ready to commence their concerts this evening at Dramatic Hall." etc. NJ May 22, 1852: Lee's Circus of Acrobats. NJ June 8, 1852: "On Thursday evening last we were gratified by the reopening of Dramatic Hall." NJ July 3, 1852: "For the past week the Dramatic Hall has been occupied by Mr. & Mrs. Baker and their company." etc. NJ July 10, 1852: "Satan in Paris" will be repeated for positively the last time," etc. NJ August 7, 1852: "Don Ceasar De Bezan" dance by La Petite Clorinda; Mr. Bangham, Miss Clorida, Miss Celeste, Mrs. Bingham. SACRAMENTO UNION September 22, 1852: Dramatic Hall holds 600 people. (P2?????P2L!L1LNEI1) NJ October 13, 1852: Wilmarth Waller Co. and again on October 29th and November 12th. Wilmarth, Mrs. Waller, Mrs. Evans, Mrs. Madden Messrs Spear, Barry, Tuthill, Gates, Dorman and Edwin Booth. DAILY EVENING HERALD, San Francisco, November 18, 1852: "The Dramatic Co. at Nevada have sent the sum of $473.50 to the Relief Committee of Sacramento, being the proceeds of a benefit held at Dramatic Hall." Nd May 13th, 27th, June 10th and Jume 24th, 1853: "Dramatic Hall Messrs Tuthill and Anderson, managers. Appearing, Mr. and Mrs. Waller Miss Kate Gray, Mrs. Madden, Miss Merdaunt, Messrs Gates, Barry, and Elderson." NJ June 3, 1853: "The performances at the Dramatic Hall have been unusually attractive the past week, Ingamar drew two full houses" etc. NJ June 10, 1853: "The managers of the company at Dramatic Hall have secured the services of Mr. D. Anderson so popular as a comedian at San Francisco and Mr. Wilder, a young tragedian" etc. NJ June 17, 1853: "Mr. H. C. Hodge presented Mrs. Waller with a purse containing $610, a sum made up by merchants, miners" etc. NJ June 17, 1853: "Dramatic Hall Musical Concert Miss Ella Bruce". NJ July 13, 1853: Musical Concert, Miss Ella Bruce. NJ July 29, 1853: "M'lle Lola Montez the people of Nevada have been entertained the past week for several nights with the performances of the eccentric and accomplished woman whose name heads this note." etc. No September 30, 1853: "A meeting of the citizens of Nevada will be held at the Dramatic Hall in Nevada City on Friday, September 30th, at 3 o'clock p.m. for the purpose of electing delegates to the Pacific Railroad State Convention." etc. — NJ October 7, 1853: M. Chevalier from Paris performs for the benefit of the Hook & Ladder Co. NJ October 28, 1853: "M. Chevalier, the skillful practitioner of the mysteries of legerdemain gives a performance at the Dramatic Hall on Saturday and Sunday evenings." NJ April 14, 1854: "Mr.Dunbar, assisted by the popular Robinson family, entertained our citizens at Dramatic Hall on Wednesday evening in a pleasing manner." etc. 32
