FRENCH CORRAL name fram an old station erected in 1849 there; mining early in 1852; town commenced in spring 1852; July 8, 1853, 70 houses, 50 were destroyed by fire; town rebuilt after another fire in May 1854; B&D pl4; TsW p62 located at foot of south side of San Juan Hill; got its name fron a Frenchman who built a corral for his mules; postoffice established in 1852; at one time had the largest Chinatown in the West; burned again in 1854. FRENCH GARDEN September 9, 1873: French Garden 1 miles east of NC, is For Sale. FRENCH HOTEL Ad NJ Sept. 13, 1851: Broad Street in NC. FRENCH LIQUOR STORE DEM February 2, 1859 p3c2: operated by C. H.
