Henry long a resident of Moore's Flat, in this county, where he was
engaged in banking and mining, died at San Francisco on Friday last.
The deceased was one of the pioneers of the county. He ran the express
to Eureka and Moore's Flat in 1856-7, and afterwards sold to Colby,
when he went into the banking business at Moore's Flat with Marks &
Powers. He was a native of Millin county, Pennsylvania, and aged about
45 years. For several years past his health has been very delicate and
about two years ago he gave up business and returned to his home in
the East, in hopes of regaining his health. On his return to
California he felt somewhat better, but he was never well enough to
enter into business again. Up to a short time previous to his death he
thought he was improving, but he became worse and died as above
stated. We understand his remains were taken East for burial. The
deceased has many friends throughout the county, who will regret to
hear of his death, and whose sympathies will be extended to the
friends and relatives who mourn his loss.
Listed under Moore's Flat Cemetery; Monument; LIB.
