Belden, David continued: only a few delinquents. GVU December 8, 1867: Senator Belden in a New Role The excursion train which passed up yesterday had aboard Senator Belden of this county. He wished to get off at Colfax, but stopping time was not in the programme. While the train was going at a speed of about fifteen miles an hour the eloquent Senator took a leap high into the air and after describing several eccentric curves, landed safely at the bottom of an embankment. An informant says he turned several times over —end-for-end in his wild flight; but as Mr. Belden has not turned a summersault (sic), political or otherwise, for several years, we are inclined to doubt the correctness of that statement. DEEDS Book 40 p393 recorded January 4, 1872 Niles Searls to David Belden: House and lot on Piety Hill.
