BIRGE, J. F. DT1'57 DEM November 18, 1857: a small house between Livery Stable and Bowling Alley at Woolsey's Flat. Bishop, Annie E. (Keller) native of Pennsylvania; married Frank E. Bishop December 24, 1887. (Marriage Records) Bishop, Ema Married J. H. Helwig of North Bloomfield in 1872; Miss Bishop was born October 18, 1854 in California. Tsw. Bishop, Frank E. Marriage Records: Frank E. Bishop, age 29, native of Connecticut, resident of Nevada City married Miss Annie E. Keller, age 20, native of Pennsylvania, resident of Nevada City, on December 24, 1887 by Rev. J. Sims. Bishop, John Death Records: John Bishop expired January 14,1896, age 82, in the village of Sweetland, Nevada County. Tae ee theatrical actress, appeared at Concert Hall in NC, 1853; p3l B&D. Bishop, Nimrod G. — DEEDS Book 53 pll2 recorded December 22, 1876, Charles E. Pueschel of Moore's Flat, Nevada County, sold to Nimrod G. Bishop for $75.00 a lot in Moore's Flat, 128' x 228' "a part of the 'Old Brewery' Ground" located on the old Moore's Flat Road, at its junction with the County Road. DEEDS Book 53 p453 recorded June 16, 1877, N. G. Bishop to Gus Hubp for $25.00 a lot in Moore's Flat 56' x 56' "part of the Old Brewery Ground." ASSESSOR'S List 1877: N. G. BLACK & HUGHES —DEM September 28, 1859: Steam Sash Factory, Pine Street at corner of Washington Street, rear of Court House in Nevada; manufacturer of doors, sash, etc. Listed at 88 and 92 Pine Street in 1861 DIR. Black, J. M. — arrived in Nevada County in 1852; listed as "of Black & Hughes, residence 125 Pine Street" NC in 1861 Directory. Married to Mrs. Elizabeth Smith on November 9, 1852 at NC. Expired August 5, 1895. Black, James MT July 12, 1861 p3cl: Fatal Mining Accident. On Tuesday last, 9th inst., at Woolsey's Flat, James Black, well known in this city, was engaged, with two other men, whose names we have not learned in tunneling, when a shaft, containing a large body of water, was struck. All three were swept through and out of the tunnel and down a precipice. Black was killed; the other two were much bruised and mangled, and one of them a Frenchman, cannot possibly recover.
