BLOODY RUN CANON B&D pl2 & 14.; Bloody Run Tollgate between North Bloomfield and Moore's Flat. Bloomers, William DEEDS Book 6 p391 Wm Bloomers to W. C. Dureyea recorded July 12, 1860. Bloomfield & Bro. DEM August 17, 1859: Messrs Bloomfield & Bro. have purchased the stock and fixtures of the saloon lately by J. L. Williamson, near the corner of Pine and Commercial Streets, and fitted up the place in a style unsurpassed for elegance and canfort. BLOOMFIELD, NORTH origin of name see T&W p59 and HB Vol.12 #2; called Humbug and Humbug City; originated in 1850, developed into a town by 1855; at one time had over 200 Chinese; HB Vol.12 #2; located on the San Juan Ridge; known as Virgin Valley Mining District; became the center for mightiest system of Hydraulic Mining ever inaugurated in state of CA, and the western hemisphere, at famous Malakoff Hydraulic Mine. DEM April 15, 1857: Change of Name. About a week ago the citizens of Humbug City assembled in a Town Meeting and passed a resolution, changing the name of the place to Bloomfield. BLUE TENT —got its name from first trading post there, which was a tent made of blue cloth; HB Vol.10 #2; "For sale", north of Nevada City, NJ December 16, 1853 p4 c4; 4 miles northeast of NC; existed in 1850. Bluett, John miner, house at Wet Hill in 1855; B&D p53. Bluett, Sarah J. NI March 26, 1861 p2c4: Married in Nevada on the 17th, John Herbert, of Dutch Flat, to Miss Sarah J. Bluett, of this place. Blum, Mrs. Nanetti DEEDS Book 15 p451 recorded November 28, 1864 John Williams to Mrs. Nanetti Blum; TEMPERANCE HALL & outbuildings on Sacramento Street. DT December 29 1864 p3cl: We understand Mrs. Blum has purchased the Temperance Hall building of John Williams. Before long she contemplates having the Hall remodelled and fixed up in style. DEEDS Book 47 pl25 recorded October 7, 1870 Nevada City to Nanetti Blum, patent on Lot 16, Block 57 (‘TEMPERANCE HALL). DEEDS Book 50 p462 recorded February 23, 1876: Nanetti Blum, a widow, to Charles Grimes for $1600: lot on Prospect Hill and on the easterly side of and fronting on, Sacramento Street and known as the TEMPERANCE HALL lot and premises: commencing on the northerly corner of the Temperance Hall and on the easterly side of Sacramento Street and running thence northerly along the east line of Sacramento Street 20"; thence easterly at right angles with the east line of Sacramento Street, 100'; thence southerly at right angles with the line last run 100'; and thence westerly at right angles with the line east run 100! to the east line of Sacramento Street; thence along the east line of Sacramento Street to the place of the beginning; with the brick building erected on said lot; said lot known as Iot 16, Block 57.
