Pray God that peace may not be far off. We want to know! Isn’t Adlai S‘ev-. enson the only man ever nominated second time and vith another candi date, for the Vice Presidercy? Two years agu, the British were talk iug about American mi+takes in war. Now they are having some little mistakes themselves. Blood will tell. It is something of a question whether Tommy -tkins or Oom Paul most resents the sudden disaprearance of South Afrca from the front pages of the papers. t urope has been hard at work eelling the Chine se modern arms and teaching them how to usethem. Now it is outraged becuuse they profit. by the teaching. We wonder if Mr. Oroker was thoughtless enough to discuss his son’s $4,000 bull pup in the presence of the’ “plain people” who assembled in Kaneas Oity recently? The Hon. Jeff Davis of Arkansas, the gubernatorial nominee of the Democ~ Yaoy of that state, shows a decided leaning towards expansion. This item is for the eye of Eemoeente Chairman Jones. Orcker’s effort to “mother” Hill resulted about as that of a hen to mother du«ks usnally does. Only this time it was the mother that took water. Curiously enough, the population center of the United States is a spot ir Indiana where nobody lives at all. Sort of calm center to the storm. Just totbink, the Hon. “Gus” Va: Wyck was put on the committee to frame the anti trast platform! There was a fine touch of sarcasm in thie selection. If Mr. Bryan can be induced to continue his recent plan of talk'ng from the back of his horse, he may reach that poiot when he will be able to talk . . horse senee. Asn't it curious that the Democrats shoul i so flercely announce the alleged “alliance” with Great Britain and yet refuse to :dopt a law which would put an end to our dependence on that country for our ships.
