There was a large attendance at the Populist’s meeting, in front of Giffin’s cigar store, Saturday evening. John I. Caldwell acted as chairman, J. M. Barton of Loomis, Placer county, who is the Populist candidate for State Treasurer, was the first speaker who devoted most of his time to the Southern Pacific Railroad Company. He was followed by Thomas V. Cator, an aspirant for the office of United States Senator. He made avery long speech touching upon the various issues of the campaign. Cator is a good talker, and he held his audience remarkably well considering they had to stand up to listen sohim. The honor of beautifully decorating the stand is due to Hon. John I. Caldwell, a man whom it was believed would’ be the last to leave the Democratic party, instead of the tirst one. icle of Various Folks ’ ARRIVALS AT THE Union Hotel, Main Street. 8. Mr. RicHarp Birks, the well-known Druggist, 207 McGill st., Montreal, P. Q., says: I have sold Ayer’s Family Medicines for 40 years, and have heard nothing but good said of them. I know of many Wonderful Cures performed by Ayer’s Sarsaparilla, one in particular being that of a little daughter of a Church of England minister. The child was literally covered from head to foot with a red@ind exceedingly troublesome rash, from which she had suffered for two or three years, in spite of the best medical treatment available. Her father was in great distress about the case, and, at my recommendation, at last began to administer Ayer’s Sarsaparilli,-two-bot-" tles of which effected a complete cure, much to her relief and her father’s delight. I am sure, were he here to-day, he would testifyin the strongest terms as to the merits of © Ayer’s Sarsaparilia Prepared by Dr. J.C.
