SrookTon, July 30.—The general tieup on the San Francisco water front is Paisinig havoc with the business of the river transportation companies plying between San Francisco and Stockton. Ia fact, the shipping business is nearly paralyzed both ways. Boats are still able to deliver freight to the wharves in San Francisco, and to vessels whose crews handle the goods. Coaling is done at Pittsburg, so long as the supply holds out they are all right on that score. The strike means a big loss of business to the boat lines. Business bas falien off greatly since the strike, and the general tie-up means a further decrease in business. It is also a big loss to the farmers who have shipped fruit to San Francisco. The plums and pears on the wharf are atill in gcod condition, but thousands of boxes ‘of peaches have been thrown into the bay. The farmer not only looses the fruit, ‘but has to pay the freight.
