ALL IS QUIET. Situation in California Unchanged. San Francisco, July 7.—The only new feature of the railroad situation in Ca ifornia tonight is the raising of the blockade at Los Angeles. In Northern California the blockade is more complete tonight than at any time since the inception of the trouble. Out of Oakland or San Francisco not a train is running, riotous demunstrations at San Jose having tied up even the coast division of the Southern’ Pacitic and made it useless for the company to dispatch trains from this city. Two companies o State militia have made no effort to overcome the strikers at San Jose. The Cy FAVORING THE RAILROADS. Debs and Sovereign Telegraph Cleveland a Strong. Letter. Cricaco, July 7.—Messrs. Debs and Sovereign tonight telegraphed a letter to President Cleveland. They charge Cleveland with acting in the interest of railroads which are opposing laborers to the verge of starvation,; They deny that strikers are interfering with the transmission of the mails and say: ‘“‘By your acts in so far as you have supplanted the civil and State authorities with Federal military power, a spirit of unrest and destruction has so far been augmented that a deep-seated conviction is becoming prevalent that this government is soon to be declared a military despotism. _———_oe For jaundice and liver complaint, Ayer’s Pills are better than any other. Los ANGELEs, July 7.—In view of the fact that a complaint has been made that the Southern Pacific is not making proper efforts to transport mails, United States Dietrict Attorney Dennis has notified the Southern Pacific Company that the fact that it may be. impracticable for it to operate trains carrying Pullman cars at the present time does not excuse the company from carrying mails on all other trains. trouble, neither the United States Marshal nor the Staté militia having made any effort since the riot of Wednesday to assist the company in moving trains. Southern Pacific managers have apparently thrown up the sponge until some settlement of the trouble is arrived at in the East. Strikers at Sacramento are as determined as ever. Many of them are heavily armed with Winchesters and openly threaten to resist any efforts to move trains. The strikers have established a soup kitchen near -the depot. . They are also soliciting the people ef Sacramento for funds for the support of the more needy families. Money and previsions have been generously donated.
