The stockholders and directors of the Glenbrook Park Association and the Seventeenth AgriculRichards, E. J. Rector, George Legg, J.J. Jackson. The board-of directors then met and organized by electing officers as follows: J. J. Jackson President; William Giffin, Secretary; E. J. Rector, Treasurer; Fred Zeitler, Vice President. It was decided to make elaborate preparation for the association’s third annual Bunker Hill Day picnic, which will take place at Glenbrook Park next Saturday, the 16th, Bunker Hill Day falling, on Sunday this year. Officiale—Henry Lane. . Picnic trains will run at all hours of the day from both this city and Grass Valley, and a most interesting program of sports will be arranged. The meeting of the Seventeenth Argricultural District directors resulted in the determination of the directors to hold a stock exhibit at the park and a pavilion in this city the week previous to the State Fair. The sum of $1400 will be forthcoming from the State, as the association did not draw their. yearly allowance last year. It is also more than probable that arrangements will be made whereby there will be a week of racing at the track. The matter will be further diccussed at a meeting to be held on Sunday, the 24th inst. The following committees were appointed. Acceptable to President McKinley Vice President. A dispatch to. the Examiner from Washington, dated Jnne 9th says: President McKinley's preference for Vice President is President Scott of the Union Tron Works of San Francisco— of the firm that built the battleship Oregon—from the Pacific Coast. The Scott boom was launched today. An important fact in connection with presentative &. J. Waters 08 Angeles, and Geo. A. Knight, a delegate at-large to the National Ognvention from California, were with the President, Ohairman Hanna and Secretary ai during a portion of today’s con. ference. Mr. Scott’s idacy was formally announced ‘an ived the Executive approval. After the conference it was authoritatively declared that Mr. Scott was iti the race and had the good-will of President McKinley. The approval by the Republican managers of a Pacific Coast candidate has clarified the Vice-Presidential situation to a considerable extent. Long ago some of the leaders, including some of the recognized Administration countered. was to find a man upon whom the QOoast Republicans could anite. Officer Oarr took another trip to Oolfax yesterday, He accompanied John Doyle, who had served sentence in the county jail, and the incorrigible Ed Oonnors, the drunken nuisance. They were.set adrift at Colfax to annoy some other community. Gone to Build a Mill, W.J.
