Lous before the curtain was rang up
last night the Nevada Theatre was
‘packed almost to suffocation with relatives and friends to witness the presdrama, ‘A Rival by Request,” and

Prof. E. H. Barker, Principal of the

The tbree-act comedy of “A Rival

every one of the east acted their part
to perfection. The play is full of fun
and humor, and under the direction
of Prof. E. H. Barker every bit of
mirth was. brought out. The stege
setting was very geod, and the wait
between acts was not near as long as

A short sketch of each character would

Harlan Wright, as a retired business

Edgar Barker in the guise of a re-. tired farmer, Benjamin Briggs, gave
evidence that he had takem lessons in
rural life.
Owen Penrose, as Lord Anthony McMullen, Smythe’s friend, acted as if
he bad studied well hie lines.
Norman Shaw, as Smythe’s servant,
gave spirit to the play and he acted
well.
Louise Prout and Elizabeth Morgan,
as Mrs. Burnett and daughter, were
praised highly for their adaptability to
the characters.
Jeanette Watson, as the wife of Benjamin Briggs, carried the part to perfection, while Ruth Richards, as her
daughter, received much’ praise.
