Ranchers in Pleasant Valley and that part of the county say they cannot hire men enough this season to handle their hay crops, and consequently considerable hay is being damaged by the burning sun. Never, before have harvest hands been so scarce in that section. Usually there are plenty of men hunting for work on ranches, but this season the ranch owners are hunting for men, The cause of this scarcity cannot be accounted for, but it is evident that the unemployed are not looking for this kind of work in the lower part of Nevada county.
