The preliminary examination was set for next Tuesday afternoon at 2 o’clock. It ia alleged that Sandow attempted to strike Wear with a single tree. Street near James Hennessey’s livery 1 1 of thie olty have formed a union, and as stable, have notified @ number of their pstrons that they will go out of: ‘business within a few.daye. It seems the employes of all the laundries in town recently made a demand for an increase in pey, and after considerable: trouble and a strike won their point last week, but they were not contented with this and have again struck for an increage of one dollar per week, and the firm mentioned says it is unable to grant the demand and will retire. Whether or not another company will take hold of the business is not known, but this seems to be a good time to rid the city of the eyesore that has-so long existed there. Soldiers Mutiny. JuNoTION Crry, Ken., Jane 1.—About noon Tuesday nineteen soldiers in Troop K, Eighth Cavalry, at Fort Riley, rebelled on account of an ine spection that was erdered for 2 o’clock in the afternoon. They came to Junction City and paraded on the streets in deflance. of the non-commissioned officers who were sent to take them back to the post. A detail of men was sent from fhe post to agsigt in the capture of the mutincers. With the aid of. the local police agencies all but four of the mutineers are in custody. Only seven of the men resisted the patrol. Shorter Hours. Pirrspvra, June 1.—Because of the extensive retrenchments being made by the great railroad systems, espeofially the Pennsylvania Railroad, the Westinghouse Airtrake Company’s plant at Wilmerding has cut the working time of ite employes. More than one-balf of the 4000 employes of the plant will work but half and twothirds time, while the remainder will work eight instead of ten hours daily, with five bours on Saturday.
