Coffee Agrees With Some People, But
Not With All.
Coffee has caused my son-in-law to
have nauseaund pain in the stomach
and bowels.
In my own case I am anableto drink
coffee without having distress afterwards, and my son eleven years old,
has had dyspepsia, caused by Guinking
coffee.
We all abandoned the use of coffee
some months ago and have been using
the Postum Food Coffee since.
Each and every one of us have -been
entirely cured of our troubles and we
are naturally great friends of Postum.
I have tried several different ways of
making it, but there’s no way so good
as to follow the directions properly;
then we have a delicious drink. Mrs.

. The Jury Took No Stock in the Plea
of peeeanity,
Verdict Reached at 3:10 This florning and Brought
Into Court at ba 30.
Ed Moore, the brutal murderer of
ing obligations to bis lawyer, a majority of the jury and his luck. He is
. going to be sent to the State Prison for
life instead of having his neck stretched
on the gallows ashe deserved.
At half-past 9 o’clock this mbérning
the jurymen came into court looking
bedraggled and blear-eyed as a result
of having been locked up since 4:55
last evening except during the interyals when:they were taken to the New
York hotel for dinner and breakfast.

The courthouse bell was not rung this
morning when Judge Nilon went upon
the bench, so there were but four men
in the court-room besides those connected with the court, the defendant
and the newspaper men.
“Have you agreed upon a verdict,
“We have,” said Foreman J. A. Craig,
handing his honor a sealed envelope.
The Judge tore the envelope open,
read the contents and told Clerk Arbogast to read the verdict aloud.
The jury bad found Moore guilty of
murder in the first degree and fixed the
penalty at life imprisonment.
The jury was polled, assenting one
by one to the verdict.
Moore was affected but slightly by
the result. His complexion took on a
sallow tinge for a moment, his features
brightened, then the old look of indifference came back. He had slept like
a babe all night and until he was awakened this morning to get ready for
breakfast. “It would take something
more appalling than the swish of a
bhangman’s noose or the shadow of a
scaffold to disturb him,” said one of
the county officers.
Moore is to appear next Monday
morning for sentence.
As soon as the jury retired last evening balloting began. At the first vote
eleven jurors showed they thought the
accused man sane while one deemed
him insane. On the second all agreed
that he was sane.
On the first vote.as to the crime five
voted for hanging, five for life imprisonment and two for manslaughter.
Ballots were taken every half hour
or oftener, most of them standing four)
for-hanging and eight divided between
manslaughter and murder,
At 3:10 this morning the compromise
verdict was reached.
After the 3:15 p, m. recess yesterday
Mr. Power resumed his closing argument. He said he could not see a
weak point in the case of the prosecution. He pointed to Dr. Tickell’s response to a hypothetical _ question
founded on the Kilroy. case to the effect that. Moore was sane. . The Doctor
said a man shot twice in the stomach
would Pe forward forcibly. Kilroy
went against Moore, then sank to his
knees and called, “Ob, Bob, come here.”
. The defense was reduced to straits. It
is not often we ask you to inflict the
death penalty. I ask you now todo
it, and am willing to take all the re‘sponsibility on my own..shoulders.
You. owe it to society. You should do
it to prevent Moore from doing further dangage, He is a dangerous man
to be in any prison. He should be

that will effectually put such criminals
out of the way. The murder of Sherwas referred to, and now said the lawyer, Kilroy too is murdered in the discharge of his duty. [tis not for the
sake of revenge that men are hung, but
to protect the people and maintain the
law. The defense say Kilroy was a
foolish man. Would to God we had
more men like him. He was one of our
best citizens. Moore according to his
