The grounds were crowded With an enthusjastic gathering, and the sharp plays ‘were enthusiastically cheered. The Nevadas went to the bat first but were whitewashed four: consecutive times, ‘Io the fifth they succeeded in scoring once, but were whitewashed again in the sixth. “In the seventh the Nevadas strack their batting gait, and scored twice. I: the: eighth the Nevadas again scored once, and in the ninth they again used the stick te advantage, ‘and they tallied three times, but were still one short of tieing the score, -. When the Grass Valleys went to. bat they started in witna rush and gcored three times in the first. They failed to connect in the next four innings, but in the sixth they again swiped the ball and crossed the plate four times. In the seventh they again scored once but were whitewashed again in the eighth, and it was not necessary to play their ninth. Taking it allin all it was one of the best games ever: pleyed on the Glenbrook diamond. Fitzgerald, the umpire, made such rotten decisions that he was beld up to execration by the assemblage. The decision. on Hooper at second was loudly decried, and on two different occasions reversed his decision when. biuffed by Grass: Valley. Charles O’Connor made a_pretty one-handed catch on second and was loudly cheered for thé act. Hooper did some fine playing on third,-and was applauded heartily. Ballestero pitched a great game, and was ably. seconded by Galendo bebind the bat, until that player wae wantonly struck in the stomach by a ball in the hands of Nevins the Grass Valley shortstop, and knocked out. O’Connor caught the balance of the game, and did well. Kaphan for Grass Valley played rank ball, and the sooner he is released the better it will be for the team. Miller, pitcher for Grass Valley, played a grand game, and fielded his position to perfection. The Grass Valleys have five safe hitters, and it will take a bard combination to beat them.
