Morgap and Dan Bourne, all of Auburn. Lemuel G. Brown, aged 70°’years, met f death at the hands of Edward Patrick Reed, at Westville on the night of Maj Qist. Reed was given a preliminary hearing before Justice H. ©, Klein, ov May 26th: The justice discharged: the prisoner on the grounds.of unsufficient evidence. Last week Sheriff Conroy rearrested Reed and a second examina-. tion was held on June 22nd and 23rd, before Justice J. H. Wills at Auburn. Considerable new evidence was introduced and ‘Justice Wills held him to appear before the Superior Court. Reed’s bail was fixed at $5,000. Here is now confined at the Auburn jail. The death of Mrs. M. Curran occurred Saturday morning about 3 o'clock, at the home of her daughter, Mrs. M. McCormack of Alta. She was sick only afew days. Mrs. Curran was known in this vicinity, her family having grown ‘up in Little York, where they then resided, when that place was a lively little mining town, She was respected and loved by her many devoted > friexids; who always found hér ready tolend her kind helping hand, in time of trouble or sickness. She follows closely her oldest daughter who died only last fall. Deceased was born in Montreal, Canada, and was aged 69 years and 20 days. Something . New.
