ERMS OF SUBSORIPTION: Delivered to any part oflthe elty. ? —_ : PRIDAY. ooo. cicicsiscceacis peekisvectus RRS EARS enna a June 27, 1902 Tuy (600 is TN) Arrangements All Compicicd for the Big Patriotic Demonsiration al Nevada City. HE VARIOUS COMMITTEES who have charge of the coming Fourth and Fifth of July celebrations held another meeting last evening at the City Hall, chairman W. H. Martin presiding, and Jas. F, Colley recording the minutes. The meeting was a very enthusiastic one and all the reports submitted to the General Committee demonstrated the fact that details and arrangements were practically completed for one of the biggest celebrations ever seen in this section of the State. J.M. Walling, chairman of the Literary Committee, J. H. Rogers, chairman of the Printing Committee, Jas. F. Colley, chairman of the Decorating Committee, E. S. Parke, chairman of the Transportation Committee, H. J. Wright, chairman of the Invitation Committee, B. S. Rector of the Music Committee, S. Lee Leiter of the Parade Committee, W. H. Dunlap of the Finance Committee and F. E. Brown and Dr. I. L. Bowman of the Afternoon and Evening Amusement Committee tendered their respective reports for approval by the General Committee. Most of the committees had reported everything in readiness at a previous meeting, so there was but little for them to do. However, there was considerable important business brought before the meeting by some of the committees. The Committee on Decoration and Hall reported that arrangements had been made with the Women’s Relief Corps for the gorgeous decoration of the theatre on July 3d, and that new and novel designs will be employed. The Committee on Amusements have prepared an unusually attractive program for the afternoon and evening of the Fourth. The feature of the evening will be a grand electrical and pyrotechnical display, the fireworks to be displayed from floats during the illuminated parade. The Morning Parade Committee, through its chairman, S. Lee Leiter, assured the General Committee that the parade would equal and perhaps excel that of last year. The matter of the business houses of the city being appropriately decorated for the celebration was talked over. It was decided to urge the business men to put forth extra effort in the decoration of the town this year, so that it may present a gala appearance on the evening of the 3d. The Finance Committee last evening stated that $1427 had been subscribed up to that time and all but $63 had been collected. As this amount was not sufficient to-meet ex-. ' penses, a motion was made and carried that a committee be appointed to assist the Finance Committee to make a canvass of the town and increase the amount already subscribed. B. S. Reetor, S. Lee Leiter, E. S. Parke, Dr. I. L. Bowman, ‘and Major P. F. Simonds were appointed, and these gentlemen, with’W. H. Dunlap and Fred E.
