organization Mr. Tilley was also an
honored member, turned out in large
numbers to pay their last sad respects.
The bier as it reposed in the sacred
edifice was covered with wreaths, floral
pieces, etc., indicative of the esteem in
which. deceased was held, Rev. J.
Sime was the officiating clergyman,
and be spoke in glowing terms of the
man he bad known s0 intimately in
life. In-his remarks Mr. Sims alluded
significantly to the fact that thirty
years ago yesterday deceased had attended the first anniversary of Mr,
Sims’ pastorate, and bad continued to
attend each succeeding anniversary.
through all the years that have since
taken flight, His body was there as
usual, but for the last time, for the
apirit had ascended to mingle with
the cosmic forces. A strange solnci=
dent, but one-beyond the pale of buman tointerpret. At Pine Grove cemthe Masons were read over the remains
ef the dead, after which all that was
earthly of Mr. Tilley was laid-away for
alltime. The pall bearers were: Masone—James Bosewall, James White,
John Richards, W. Carman; Sons of
St. Georgs—T. H, Watters, V. Stevens,
L, Foote, J. Hooper.
At 8:80 yesterday. afternoon all that:
was wortal of Mrs. Esthina Baker,
relict of the late Daniel S. Baker, was
also laid to rest in Pine Grove cemetery. The funeral was held from the
Methodist Church where, in life, Mrs.
Baker was a devoted worshipper. Rev.
W. Angwin, spiritual edviser and a
elose personal friend of deceased, conducted the services of the chareh and
spoke the words that consigned the
soul of the pioneer lady to the tender
keaping of a merciful Omnipotent. He
touchingly dwelt apon the virtues and
attributes of one whohad been as of
them; one who always deemed it ber
bounden duty and sacred privilege to
farther the cause of Christ upon earth.
So impressively, feelingly and vividly
did he portray the past-life of this e8timable christian that scarce a dry eye
was discernable among those who bad
assembled to pay their last obligations
to the deceased. No floral offerings.
outside of a small bouquet or two, were
in evidence, ae it had been the express
wish of Mrs. Baker that these silent
tokens be omitted. She cared for no
display, and wished to be laid away 88
she bad lived, a tive follower of her
erthodoxical principles. At the conclusion of the services at the church
the large funeral cortege wended its
‘way slowly to the cemetery, where
the last ani final obsequies were held,
after which the form of a once true
and conscientious Christian lady was
lowered in the tomb to sleep the sleep
of the just and righteous. The bear:
ers of the pall, who were each and every. one, firm and devoted friends of
the deceased, were as follows: Samuel
Barr, Louis Garwood, William Troan,
Michael Garver, William Tamblyn and
‘James Bovey.

Mesdames W. F. Englebright, Herbért
Orsig, Misses Eleanore Hartman and
Julie -A. Allen.

and his earnest and frank manner of
delivery. hag gained for him an excellent reputation ae s pulpit orator.
The singing by the choir yesterday
was exceptionally good, lending a
melody to the special cervices that

The Tonopah Bananza of Satarday
contained the following item: ‘‘The

of high grade silver and gold ore in
one of their claims in the porphyry

of Lone mountain and about twelve
miles distant from town. Ata depth
of ten feet in the shaft a ledge twenty
inches in width /te discernible and
from it came samples of ore that run
from $100 to $800 per ton. The quartz
resembles the surface croppings of the

metal can be seen. The ledge is incased in substantial walle, aad there is
every indication of ite permanency.”
The above refers to John and William Tambiynwho formerly resided
