THE DIFFERENCE. ‘That isa curious contrast. which is jnst now presented by a comparison of the attitade of the Mexican govern‘ment and its proposed bond issue. and = of the leaders of the silver cause. United. States. The latter alpr . professing great admiration for the Mexican system: of finance, recently forced through the Senate, where the silvet’elément is in control, a resolution declaring the bonds of the United state payable in silver, while the Mexicaz government is asking bids for gold bonds which it proposes to issue. The difference is simply this: The . Mexican government recognizes the inevitable as {0 the relations of gold and silvér and is willing to conform to the facts. wherever nevessary, while the silver leaders in the United States who are in the silver cause merely for “what there is in it,” either in politics or personal gain, are willing to sieze upon any opportunity to make momentary capital for themselves and their cause without ‘any reference to its effect upo. the country or its finances. REALLY UNKIND. , These heartless exporters aad foreign ‘buyers are evidently determined to detroy the last possible chance of the free-silver Democrats. They keep o1 pouring the money into coffers of the farmers of the country in a wai that must make the heart of the average Bryanite ache. The January exports of breadstuffs and pro visions were far in excess in value of those of January of last year, and fo the seven months ending with January were nearly $75,000,000 in excess ot those of thé corresponding months oi the preceding year. Nearly every article which the farmer has to sell ix grains, meats, dairy products, etc., hat advanced in price, despite the insistence of thé silverites that this could not happen without the adoption of their financial proposition. ‘He Has No Taste That Does Not.
