Terrible.. a Railroad Accident. CoiFax, March 15th.—A frightful accident occurred on the Southern Pacific Railroad near Secretown, about 6 miles ‘above Colfax, ‘at ten o'clock this morning. Afreight train Gfi two : engines and: hineteen loaded cars are wrecked, Thirteén “re derailed and more or less smashed, six were thrown down a steep embankment and are a total wréck. For a half mile the track is torn up. There were two tramps on breakbeams at ‘the time of the accident. One was crushed to’'death; and the other one is fatally injured. The train crew escaped without injury. "She accident was caused by a defective rail. About a ton of dirt and rock caved down and he came nearly being buried up in it. He was caught in a part of and his legs were badly bruised.
