WILL THEY GET IT?
What the Manager of El Dorado’s Exhibit Says.
The San Francisco Chronicle of Friday
Bays:
Nevada dounty’ s friends ran the votes in
favor of that county for the Chronicle cup,
offered for the best-mineral exhibit, up nearly 2000 ahead of El Dorado yesterday in
spite of the declaration of the latter county’s
admirers that she would head the list again.
Hoffmeister of the El Dorado exhibit last
evening. ‘‘We have confidence in the merit
of our display, and I’ll bet anew. hat that
“we will head off Nevada again before the
end of the week. We are going to have
that cup.”
"If the people of Nevada county, who are
subscribers to the Examiner and Chronicle,
will take the trouble te cut out the coupons
and send them to the TransoxrpPt office, it
j3 safe to say that we will beat El Dorado
by thousands of votes.

The Best Yet.
We received today the first number of the
Grass Valley Weekly Union, It is an
eight-page paper, and the neatest and prettiest weekly paper ever issued in this State.
It is a-credit te Nevada ceunty. It is jockfull of splendid reading matter, and we predict that it will soon havea circulation equal
if not excelling that of any weekly published ipthis section of the State, _W. F.
Prisk, the enterprising publisher, is justly
deserving of big success in that undertaking.
Send and get a sample copy and see if you
will not corroborate all we say about it.

canines. The brute’s teeth punctured a
large vein, from which the blood flowed so
profusely that Brand had to seck surgical
aid to stop it. One of the dogs belonged to

CHRIST’S ENTRY INTOJERUSALEM
The Event Will be Commemorated
Throughout the Catholic World.
_ Tomorrow is Palm Sunday, the Sabbath
before Easter. It is celebrated in the Greek
and Roman Catholic and Lutheran churches
in commemoration ofthe triumphal entry of
the Lord into Jerusalem, (John XII),.on
which occasion the multitude cast branches
of trees before him. These branches -are
represented by sprays of palm, or, in countries where the palm does not grew, by
those of other trees, as of the yew, willow,
box and fir. These branches are blessed \by
the priest and distributed to the congregation, who wear them for the rest of the day.

Will Have to Walk.
It looks now as though delegates to the
Grand Parlor of Native Sons will many of
them have to walk.if they get there. The
Parlor convenes at Eureka, Humboldt
county, on the 23d of April. There are
400. persons who desire to go, but the
steamer which plies between San Francisco
and Kureka can only acconimcdate ninety
cabin passengers, and it looks doubtful as
to providing sufficient means of transportation, If satisfactory arrangements cannot
be made the Grand Trustees will probably
change the place of meeting. of the Parlor.
