PETITIONS REFERRED.
A petition signed by J.H. Board-man, L. Schmidt, H. McCoy,. A.
Isoard, I. J. Rolfe and Geo. .G.
southeasterly corner of C. E. Mulloy’s lot to Mr. Allan’s lot, was
ad. ~ :
The following written protest
was received from Mr. Mulloy:
“To the Hon, Beard of Trustees
of Nevada City.—Gentlemen :—I
understand that a petition has
been presented to the Trustees by
the owners of property on the west
side of West Broad street
to have the street graded to
a depth of two feet, more or lese,
the whole length of said grading
being in front of my property on
the east side of the street.
I wish to enter my protest against
said grading for the reason that
it is not a public necessity and not
required for any reason. Also because it requires meto pay onehalf the expense for a useless work.
After the street above and below
said point as been covered with
rock or gravel it will be plain to
every one that itis not necessary
street.
The matter was referred to the
Street Committee.
_ J.T. Morgan, P. D. Polidori.
having petitioned at the previous
meeting for permission to remove
the gas lamp from the corner of
Main and Washington streets to
the junction of Main and. Court
streets, also to erect a gas lamp
at the corner of Winter and Washington streets; the petitioners to
bear the expenses of such changes,
arid the city to furnish the gas for
the lamps, and the matter then
being referred to the Street. Committee, the latter reported against
the granting of the pétition. It
was recommended however that
consent be given to the erection
of a gas lamp On Winter street
63. near the Court House provided
citizens of that neighborhood’ desire to do so at their own expense,
4} the city to pay for the gas used.
. The matter was put in charge of
the Street Committee.
