Mr. Glayas was algo superintendent of
the Watt Blue Gravel Mine in the
Bloomfield district, and was returning
from an inspection of the mine with. William Watt when that gentleman
wag thrown a buegy and fatally injared, In 1892 Mr. Gluyas went to
the Black Hills; South Dakota, and as-J sumed the superintendency of one of
the large mines there, He later returned to Oalifornia, and, was tendered
the management of several large mines
in the-Broken Hills, which he accepted
and departed for that far-off country;
several years ago, aud bas made his
home in that place since that time,
Mr. Gluyas was one of God’s noblemen. Honest and of the strictest integrity, his word was as good as his
bond. In all the responsible positions
which he filled, he was beld in the
highest esteem by his employers as
under,
him.‘ It will be with the sincerest regret that his legion of friends ‘will
learn of his death, and their heartfelt
wish will be that the sods will rest
lightly on the grave of a true friend
and companion.
He was a member of Madison Lodge,
F. & A. M., of Grass Valley; and Nevada Commandery, No. 6, Knights
Templar.
He leaves a young wife in Australia;
three sons—James L. Glayas, the welt
known mining man, of Grass Valley;
Frank Gluyas, superintendent of. a
mine in Mexicc; Henry Gluyas of Ohibuahua, Mexico; four ‘daughters—
Mrs, W. G. Richards of this city; Mrs.
Carrie Gautier, who resides near Aubarn, Placer county; Mies Amelia
Gloyas and Mrs. O. J. Schuster. of
Oakland.
Deceased was born in England, November 4, 1827, and was aged 75 years,
1 month and 5 days at the time of his
death.
