Marysville Democrat: Mandell Potts and Dick Teley, alias ‘‘Scar-Faced. Dick,” th: suspected murderers of Chas. Waller, were WEDNESDAY ... MARCH 21, 1894. . i rought before Justice Garber at 2 o'clock —= . Monday afternoon for’ arraignment. The Movada City, Nevada County, Calif, . Complaint, as sworn to by District Attorney McDaniel was read to them. Potts, at the Published Evenings Daily Except Sundays and . conclusion of the reading, spoke up and said ' ‘Legal Holidays. they would like to have time to produce SusscrirtTion TermMs—Fifteen Cents a Week, Sixty Cents a Mouth; Six Dollarsa Year When Paid in Advance for a Full Year. ‘ LocAL Reapine Notices—Ten Cents a Line for First Insertion, Five Cents a Line Each Subwitnesses for their side. So far is this the case that it is a notable and regretable fact that some of the displays that. deserve heavy votes have been comparatively neglected. Les Angeles, for instance, whieh has a beautiful display, closed in the count of ballots last week with but 8,779 votes, to the $9,787 cast for the leader—in the contest. San. Call and see the goods and 1,504, and other counties with displays that merit heavy vetes and even further down the list. This condition of affairs can be charged in large part to the carelessness of the people most interested. The Examiner goes by thousands to the Counties furnishing the fine displays. There are few counties that do} not receive more Examiners in a week than they bave ballots to their credit for the whole time of voting. Every Examiner sent out contains-a ballot, and every ballot counts—if it is cast. One ballot may not seem much to the subscriber who gets a paper, but when 3,000 papers go daily to a county it makes a good deal of difference to its standing whether its own people vote for it or not. _ Solano gained the lead after a hard contest, and is keeping it by a display of energy and enterprise that should be an inspiration to the other counties. Solana bas enlisted the-schiool-children in.the work of collecting ballots. Prizes are offered to the child or class that brings in the largest number. A local paper offers a watch to the subscriber who forwards the greatest number of votes. The Postoffices are collecting agencies, and the progress of the vote is kept prominently before the eyes of the people of the county. The cup is on exhibition, and the county that . ’ has the most votes when the Fair closes will get it. The possession of the cup will be an advertisement to a county of even higher value than the cup itself.: Iti worth fighting for; and no county” that has a display to be proud of should let its ballots go astray. Hatt, 217 Genessee St. Lockport, N. ¥., says: 3 “Over thirty years ago, I remember hearing my father deseribe the wonderful curative effects of Ayers Cherry Pectoral. During a recent attack of La Grippe, which assumed the form of a eatarrh, soreness of the lungs, accompanied by an aggravating cough, I used various remedies and prescriptions. While some of these medicines partially . alleviated the coughing during the day, none of them afforded me any relief from that spasmodic action of the lungs which would seize me the moment I attempted to liedown at night. After ten or twelve such nights, I was : Nearly in Despair, and had about decided to sit up all night in my easy chair, and procure what sleep I could in that way. It then occurred to me that I had a bottle of Ayer’s Cherry Pectoral. I took a spoonful of this preparation in a little water, and was able to lie down without coughing. In a few moments, I fell asleep, and awoke in the morning greatly refreshed and feeling much better. I took a teaspoonful of the Pectoral every night for a week, then gradually decreased the dose, and in two weeks my cough was cured.” Ayer’s Cherry Pectoral Promptto act. suretocure D. S.
