Jagan & Co, : pany has located a river claim that. promprove our sciiaaihy Consumption LaGrippe, Pneumonia, and Throat and diseases are — ‘MINING-ON BEAR RIVER. Covered With Slickens. On the Bear river the Erie mining comisea to make its fortunate stockholders wealthy. The ‘location, says the Colfax Sentinel, consists of about 3000 feet of the channel of Bear. river, immediately above the dam across the river which furnishes water for the South Yuba Water Company’s lower-canal. The dam holds back an immense amount of tailings which have accumulated to an average depth of twenty feet for several thousand feet up the channel of the river, These tailings also entirely cover adam about 300 feet above the site of the present one, which contains gravel and river bed that has never been worked. The Erie Company has secured permission from the South Yuba Company to run a bed-rock tannel from below to tap gravel at one side and under the dam, The company owns sixty acres of land on either side of the river below the dam, and also a right of way through 160 more, making a length of river bed in which to deposit tailings of about one mile, The mining company propose to work their gravel through the tunnel ander the dam. One great advantage that will faciltate the working of this claim is the fact the South Yuba Company has a fourfoot flume running the entire length of the claim on the south side of the river to convey water from the upper to the lower ditch This water put under pressure could be used to pipe the gravel to the centre of the river channel along the claim, The grave] in this property came from. the rich hydraulic mines of You Bet, Little York, Gold Run and Datch Flat. Part of the gravel in those claims was cemented and the fact that it has lain exposed to the ele~ ments for many years would cause it to decmpose.and liberate the gold, COULD BE. USED To Advantage in Improving the County Road. There are nineteen prisoners in the pouty jail who are‘being fed at the taxpayers’ expense, A majority of them could be used to good advantage in fixing some of the county roads. The road leading to the graveyard, from the residence of M. L. Marsh, is in a most deplorable condition, and it is a great wonder there has not been a tip-over of the hearse or some of the carriages which have been called to that. part of the city of late. This is a matter which should receive prompt attention as a few loads of rock and the muscle of the chaingang migkt be the meaus of avoiding a serious accident, A Laughing Event, The coming engagement of Ezra Kendall in the ‘‘Pair of Kids” at the Theatre tomorrow evening promises to be the laughing event of the season, Everyone will, be interested to see how Kendall manipulates that sticky fly paper and how he runs that mile in ‘2:06” on the revolving treadmill, Having done it for ten successive years there is every reason to believe he has the fine points of fun ‘‘pat,” so to speak, There is a restaurant scene in the ‘‘Kids” which is said to be one continuous string of funny burlesque, comical pantomime tricks and sleight of hand action. Kendall, in’ his ‘character of the old ‘{jay,”” of course runs the restraunt, and the way he does it must be seen to be approciated.
