The joint entertainment by the Native Sons and Native Daughters last

Same Statistics on Insanity.
Assemblyman W_s. Molliok mvitoa to
’ his paper, the Pasadena News, some interesting things about the insane. He
was on the asylum committee, He
says;
“Thére are now. five insane asylums
in California with over 5,000 inmates.
Since the ‘beginning of the Stockton
asylum there have been about 15,000
crazy people coafined there, of which
about 6,000 were native born and 9,000
foreign born, of which about 11,300 were
males and 8,700 were females, About
0.6-third of those sent to the asylum
recover. More people become insane
between 30 and 35 years than at any
other age.» Between 25 und 20 is the
next worse insane period. Five times
more common laborers become insane
than of any other occupation.
“Farmers come next. Two in three
hundred are attorneys, while only one
in five hundred are editors. Twenty
times as many people become insane
rom personaly excess and abuse as
overwork and business trials. In
the past year 305 were admitted to this
asylum. Of the woman who become All Aboard For
insane more are married than single.
But of themen who become crazy abont
t . times.as many are single as are
married. Thus if you want to avoid
going crazy get married. There are
now 1560'inmates at Stockton and of
this nui ber 607 are women.”Young Mothers.
