Druggist Hassler first placed the poultry in there the hen strutted proudly

made a rush for the intruder and weut
bang agaifist one of the large side mirrors of the show-window. This made
her more furious und she continued to

until she was caught and returned to
her box while Mr, Hassler covered the
looking glasses with drapery. It was
an amasing sight.

Lead Stolen From a Mine.
Six hundred pounds of lead has been
stolen recently from thé old works at
the Delaware mine. There is no clue

Cerf Rosenthal, superintendent of

Neil Clauson was found guilty last
night of using vulgar language and was
recommended to the court’s mercy.
During the progress of the trial one of
the jurors got up, walked out unnoticed
and failed altogether to come back:

The Narrow Gauge Railroad is about
to build four or five excursion cars to
take the place of the canvass-covered
flat cars heretofore used on the road.
There will be a thirty-six foot row of
double seats on each side of the aisle:
‘The cars will be generally speaking of
the style of the observation car now.
Ahe sides. will be of glass. It costs
some $500 apiece more to: build these
cars here than to import them, but the
management takes into consideration’
the fact that the money expended for
labor will have local distribution.
Grass Valley is likely to have a firstclass new theatre. and béll-room “this

main portion of which will have a frontage of fifty feet anda depth ,of one
hundred and fifty. It will have a sted]
frame with granite walls and brick
front, and be modernin .every respect.
On the ground floor will be a dance
hall eighty feet long with’ convenient

theater is to occupy the upper-ficor.
and will be snpplemented by ‘dressing
rooms, etc. _ It. will be,handsomely farnished and brilliantly lighted. It is
estimated that this splendid impravement will cost from $15,000 to $18,000.
