WHEREAS, application has been made for a
Franchise to construct, maintain «nd operate a
manufactory of gas for iliumination in raid
City of Nevada, and to lay pipe or conduits for
the purpose of conducting gas through the
public streets, alleys and highways of said Nea City, for a period of twenty-five (25) years
an¢
WHEREAS, it is proposed to grant the same to
the highest bidderin the manner provided by
law.
Now, THEREFORE, BE It RESOLVED: That the
Clerk of this Board be, and he is hereby in
structed, to advertise in the DaILy TrarSCRIPT, a newspaper published in the City of.
Nevada, State of California for ten (10) consecutive days the following notice of intention to
award a Frauchise granting the aforesaid privileges to the highest bidder, in ths following
words, to-wit :
NOTICE OF SALE OF FRANCHISE.
No ice is hereby given that the Board of
Trustees of the City of Nevada, County
of Nevada, State of California, has
received application, for a franchise to
coustruct a gas plant,and operate the sume,and
to lay down, maintain and operate all the necessary appliances for the game, in the public
st-eets of the City of Nevada for the period of
twenty-five (25) years, and that it is proposed
to giant the same to the highest bidder, and
that the said Board of Trustees wili; on the
28th day of March, 5895, at 8 o’clock p.m,
meet in the City Hall of the City of Nevada, in
open session, for the purpose of opening sealed
proposals forthe purchase of # Franchise of
the character and for the term set forth below,
at which time and son said: Franchise will be
awarded to the highest bidder.
Bids will be received by the Board for the
purchase oi the said iraaschise upto 2 o’clock
Pp. M. Of March 28th, 1805, aud all Side must be
accompanied by a check for the amount of
the bid,
The following is a copy of the Ordinance,
which is proposed to be passed, awarding to
the successful bidder the aforesaid Franchise,
to-wit :
ORDINANCE NO.

The Board of ‘Irustees of the City of Nevada
do ordain as follows:
SECTION 1. (=
The City of Nevada hereby grants to pair
, ‘ , 8uccessors and assigns, the
right and privilege to construct a Gas Plant and
operate the same, and manufacture Gas fur I)
lumination, and sell the same to the inhabitants of the City of Nevada,, and lay down
pipes or conduits underground, maintain and
Operate all the neeessary appliances for the
same inthe public streets, alleys and thorough fares in said City of Nevada,
SECTION 2,
Said pipe or conduits to be laid underground
in a workmanlike manner as not to interfere
with travel upon-said streets.
SECTION 3.
The said grantee or assigns may make all necessary excavations in any of said streets, highks dy or alleys forthe purpose of maintaining
said Gas pipe for lllumination in said streets,
and said work shall be dene in compliance
which pong during the continuance of this
Franchise be adopted from time to time by the
Board of Trustees of ssid City, ind shall be
done to the satisfaction of said Board of Trustees.

SECTION 4,
Nothing in this Ordinance shall be construed
as in any wise to prevent the proper authorities
of said City of Nevada from sewering, grading
paving, repairing or altering any of said streets,
aLeys or thoroughfares.

SECTION 5
The rights, privileges and Franchises herein
granted shall continue and be in force for the
period of twenty five (25) years from and after
the date of the passage of this Ordinance.
SECTION 6, z
Work on said Gas plant shall be commenced
within One Year from date of the pass.ge of
this Ordinance, and completed within two
years from the date of the passage of the same,
and in default or neglect thereof this Franchise
shall be forfeited.
SECTION 7,
The Ordinance shall take effect and be in
force from and after twenty days after its pas
a.ge.

N ORDINANCE GRANTING TO THE SUNset Telephone and Telegraph ©o., its successors and assigns, the right to place, erect
and maintain poles, wires and other conductors for the transmission of electricity for telephone and teJegraph purposes in and upori the
streets, alieys and public ee in the City
of Nevada, and to exercise the privilege of operating telephones within the said City.
The Board of Trustees of the City of Nevada
do ordain as follows: Se,
SecTion1. The City of Beveds hereby grants
to the Sunset Telephone and Te!egraph Co., its
successors and assigns, the right and privilege to
place, lay, erect, maintain and operate in the
streets, alleys and public bighways within said
city, poles, wires and other conductors for the
po ioe mci an of electricity for telephone and
telegra purposes. p
SEOrON 2. Such wires or conductors shall be
stretched upon poles or other fixtures above
ground in a workmanlike and proper manner;
said poles shall be erected at the edge of the
sidewalks in said City in a good and, substantial
manner and shall be painted. Said grantee and
its assigns shal] cause a wire to be placed in the
City Hall of said City with a proper receiver
and transmitter, which otf shall keep in no
condition and which.shali be open to use of the
City Marsha), or other City Officers at all times,
for police or fire alarm purposes, free of charge.
‘The Board of Trustees of said City shall have
the right to cause said grantee to move the location of any pole whenever the public convenience shall require the location of the same
elsewhere; the expense of such removal to Be
paid by said grantee.
SECTION 3.. The said grantee, or assigns, may
make all necéssary excavations in any of said
strects, alleys or public highways for the purpose
of erecting sad maiataining poles or other supports for said wires or conductors or repairing
the sam, and said work shall be done in compliance with the necessary rules, regulations,
ordinances‘er orders which may, during the
continuance of this Franchise be adopted from
time to time by the Board of Trustees of said
City, and the same shall be done tothe satisfaction of the said Bosrd of Trustees.
SECTION 4. Nothing in this ordinance shall
be construed as in anywise to prevent the proper
authorities of. said City of Nevada from sewering; grading, paving, Planking, repairing or al
tering any of said streets or thoroughfares herein mentioned.
SECTION 5: In consideration of the rights
herein granted the said City of Nevada shall
have the right to hoes Sg and maintain upon
the poles placed by said grantee, its successors
or assigns, in the streets and thorough fares aforesaid, any and al: wires which sai! city may require for fire alarm and Police Telegraph Service, free of churge t» said City.
