third reading. Shortridge said the
bill should not-pass; that Hayne had
been paid enough already. Selvage
concurred. He said the suit had al.
ready cost the State $31,000 or $32,000
in counsel fees, of which Hayne had
had his share. If Hayne were entitled
to $5000 more, then W. W, Foote was
also entitled toas much more, but the
Finance Committee had stricken
Foote’s tame from the bill. The bill
