Grass Valley Items. The Tidings is entitled to the credit of the followingitems: , E.C. Webster, who resides on the corner of Auburn and Bank streets, met with quite a serious accident this morning. He was" engaged in moving a building and while at work got under the house to attend to some detail, when the jackscrew slipped and the house was let wala -Mr. Webster’s right leg-was-caught and the reGe sult was a dislocation of the hip joint. There may be a fracture ot the rim of the socket of the joint (acetabulum cavity) asthe head ‘of the bone slips in-and out of the cavity quite easily: Dr: Jones re-} duced the dislocation, having the assistance of Dr. Relley, who administered chloroform. M. Gauthier is going to erect 5 ‘stamps on the Crown Point. * The 14-level in the Idaho is looking very well. The other levels contain but average milling ore, ; The Empire still continues good, so good, in fact, that the owners are going to add 30 stamps to the already 20.. This is a good . x —showingfor the oldest worked -—-mine-in-northern-California;——The custom mills are running regularly upon ore from’ prospect shafts. The owners of the custom mills say that they have been ““yunning more regularly for the ‘past few months than ever before at this time of the year. The North Star Company have made arrangements to crush rock ~—at the Rocky Bar-mill —and-commenced Tuesday. There are now about 100 loads extracted from different levels of the mine by the tributers. The rock shows well in free gold and sulphurets. ' ‘The resident trustees, (or directors) took a trip through the New York Hillmine on Tuesday, and we learn from Mr. Peter Johnston, one of the directors, that the ~_mine now looks better than it has for the ‘past two years. The miners are stoping above the 10_ level, and are sinking a winze and in the 13-level. The prospects are particularly. encouraging for there is pay rock now in sight that will run the mill for two years. J. DeBarru Stoxp of Los Angeles thinks that a lunatic asylum isa detriment instead of a benefit to a locality. Therefore.he is strongly opposed to the location of the third asylum at the City\of, the Shoemaker, of the “Tid. ings wants the ‘‘detriment’’ located on alot he owns in Grass Val}s ley.” We hope he will succeed in getting it there. The place is now entirely to quiet for sane persons. a as Mrs. M. Corrman, whocame to this state recently from Illinois, is stopping at the National Exchange Hotel. She is a teacher of KenSington and Lustre Painting, and will-be pleased to-have the ladies of this city call and see some specimens of her work. ome James Conroy, another old timer, arrived here yesterday from Virginia City. He says he hardly knows the place, on account of the many improvements made_in residences and business houses. This is his first visit.-here in. 26 years. Seen ED © emanates Notice.
