Keeping of ‘‘Nickel-in-the-Slot [Mas
Games of Chance.
3 D OF SUPERVISORS OF THE

SECTION 1. Every person, whether as
owner; manager or lessee, engaged in the
business of conduc-cing or keeping any devie commonly known as a “‘nickel-in-thesiot” machine, or any imitation thereof,
which machine is open to the public. and
“played” in. any, manner as a gime ©
chanee, must procure a license trom the
‘ax Collector of said Nevada County. and
shall pay therefor the sum of Five Vollars
per quarter. { r each of said machines, so
in his possession or under hisco trol; and
any person who has any such machine in his
place of businessshall be deemed the manazer thereof. This section arplies to all
machines of this character without regard
to the kind of coin, check or other substance or articledro ped in thes'ot of said
machine, and whether said machine is
played for music, cigars, liquors Or merhandise,
SECTION 2. The Tax Collector shall have
the co. Jection of the license provided for by
duty to collect the same, and ‘f any pers°n
isions of this ordinance fails, refuses-or
bet ll to trke ord such lice’ se.the Tax
Colleétor shall direct the District Attorney
to bring suit in the name of the ‘ ounty of;
Nevada against such person for the recovery of such ‘icense, and in-such case the Tax
Co'lector may make the necessary affidavit
for, and’ a writ of attachmen* may issue,
witkout any bond being. given on beha!f of
the pla‘ntiff, and in case of recovery by the
plaintitt,. Fifty Dollars damages must be
added 'o the judgment and co.ts to becollected from the defendant:
>ECTION 3. ‘The Tax Collector shall collect
a fee of Une Dol'ar for each license sold.

shall be deemed 'o affect or repea! anv of
the provisious of an ordinance numbered 54,

deemed to be continued in force,
