Hosken and her daughter, Miss Emily, left yesterday morning for San Francisco, where they will visit friends, T. Jewett and J. Conaway went over to Lew’s Mills yesterday to work ina box factory. Foreman Fred Godfrey and wife came down from the Plumbsgo Friday ‘and left yesterday for San Francisco, Frank Vaughn come down from the Plumbkgo mine yesterd sy. A.R. Lord left yesterday for San Francisco, , Hugh Murchie, wife and daughter left yesterday for San Francisco, where they will remain a week. Miss E. Arbogast left yesterday for Oakland to visit friends. Lonpon, May 13—The committee which was appointed by the Stock Exchange have made an agreement with John Pierrepont Morgan, whereby he promises to suspend buying in Northern-Patific stock, and the committee fixed the price at one hundred and forty. — Considerable nervousness still remains along the stock exchange. The agreement is understood to be only temporary. It is generally believed that the Harriman syndicate has secured enough stock to give them. absolute control of the Northern Pacific. Ghe Sierra Wevadas Defeat the Yob Hill of Grass Valley. Yesterday afternoon Conley’s field was the scene of a contest between the Nob Hill baseball team of Grass Valley and the Sierra Nevadas of this city. The game was spirited from start to finisb, and the umpire, Frank Smith, was fair in his decisions. The Sierra Nevadas made six runs inthe seventh inning, but this did not disconcert the Grass Valley boys for they struggled to the bitter end. Mounday, the pitcher for the Nob Hills was very effective until the disastrous seventh, but he still needs some training. Hocking, the pitcher for the Nevada boys, had good control of the bali, and had the best of support. These nines will meet againin the near future, and it can be gainsayed that it will be a battle royal. The Sierra Nevadas will go to Colfax next Sunday, when they will try conclusions with a nine at that place. Thown Out and Hurt. While Mrs. Ben Rose was on her way toattend the funeral of the late’ Mrs. Joseph Williams yesterday, the horse she was driving ran upon the side of a boulder and tipped the cart over. The lady was thrown out and ‘her collarbone and three ribs were broken. Dr. Sawyer reducéd the fractures. No damage was done to the rig. In a Delicate Condition. Drs. Muller and Conlan this afternoon performed an_ operation -on Joseph Waters and removed a tumor from his brain, He stood the operation but is in a delicate condition. Superior Court.
