Ago.
The Grass Valley Union of this
morning says: :
Mayor Parsons has called a meeting .
of citizens for next. Thursday. evening
at 8:30 o’cluck to consider the matter of
holding a Fourth of July celebration.
This year is particularly opportupe
for an immense demonstration and
Grass Valley will certainly 19 ne

held here for years. :
Tt is none too early to. start the ball
rolling. Let every citizen who possibly can attend and let none shrink the
duty of serving on committees, for
work must be done to make the celebration a-rousing success.
When the people of this city read
the foregoing they could scarcely believe their eyes. They recalled how. a
year ago, in its issue succeeding the
celebration-at Grass Valley, the Union
related with gusto that about 1500
Nevada City people had gone down to
join with the people of its town in observing the day, and it then assured us
that it and the Grass Valleyans generally appreciated the act and would return the compliment. The people
here are asking the question, ‘Is this
the way the Union and the people there
are returning the compliment?”
