The Precinct Oommittees bantu in charge the High School matter held a meeting at the City Hall last night and much enthusiasm was manifested. It was the sentiment of the meeting that every one should do their utmost to carry the election by a large majority. The committees increased their naomber to twenty-five and over, in order that every voter in the district may be interviewed and convinced of the need of continuing the High legalize the present High School, and no new building will be asked for. +The presept-school will entirely lapse unless the propogition carries. Strahle, a plumber, whose home isin Anaheim, was found dead in a room in the Grand Central Hotel, 826 North Main Street. He had committed suicide by taking chloral, a bottle which ‘centaimed the drug being found in his pocket. It is supposed that Strahle became discouraged because of financial difficulties, and this, together with failing health, caused him to end his life. Bids For Fight. San Franoiwsco, May 18—Robert Fitzsimmons last night informed representatives of the press. that he would give James J. Jeffries two weeks in which to decide whether or not he wanted to battle for the heavyweight supremacy. He invites the clubs of this city and vicinity to put in bids for the contest. These bids must be sealed, and will be opened at the Central Theater on May 26th.
