Of which my friend, D. J. McFall, is
Superintendent, I said; -“Watch the
Home, and, if my informstion is correct, it will well repay you.” Whether
my. advice was taken I do not know;
but this I. do know—that the Home
has been developed into one of the bést
mining properties in the whole of Nevada county, as I shall proceed to show
very shortly. Were no further developement work done, there is enough

when he first tried Grape Nnts. The
prediction came true; the official is not
only alive today, but is in better.
hea th than he has experienced for
many years, all of which he attributes
to the use of Grape-Nuts and from the
‘advice of. Mr. Hazard.”
There are two reasons for this; in
‘the first place, Grape-Nuts are made
from certain selected portions of
‘wheat and barley that contain phosphate of potash and albumen which

body.
The nervous system directly copntrols the digestive machinery and et

this from experience with Grape-Nuts.
Therefore when he took the railway
official in charge, he knew exactly what
he was doing, and the result proved the
correctness of his knowledge.

PERSONALS,
For they always interest one. I approach one of the subjects with regret
that I cannot say anything of a pleasant or agreeable nature“About him.
By no stretch of imagination can I
find one redeeming trait in his character or life. I refer to Dwight.Crittenden, He is now.lying at the point
of.death in the City and County Hos-}
pital, without a dollar in the world;
and the only friend he appears to have
is “Hank” Dawléy, who, when IT saw
him, was about starting on a tour to
collect money to bury him, although
he was not yet dead: . Since 1869 I have
refused in any way to recognize Mr.
Crittenden, not for any personal reason, but because I looked upon him as
a homan vampire. I do not believe
he ever had a thought above self, and
all definitions in Webster in regard to
vampires fit "him and. his life to a
nicety. And now,as he lies upon the
bed of death, I wonder if he thinks of
the homes he has wrecked, of the men
he has robbed, and the unhappiness he
has brought upon hundreds. And for
what? For the gratification of his
base and selfish passions. I often
wonder why such men are permitted
to live. He must now realize, if he
never did before, the truth of Solomon’s words: “Vanity of vanities, all
is vanity.” It is well, it is right to
speak of these things, and to speak of
them as they should be spoken of.
Your readers know that it has been my
anxious aim to find something good to
Bay of everyone; but in the case of Mr.
Crittenden I cannot do better than
quote from Sir Walter Scott:
“The worth, concentered all in self,
Living, hall forfeit fair renown,
And, doubly. dying, shall godown
To the vile dust from whence he sprung ,
Unwept, unhonored, and unsung.”
