Sielalemennse ouemees vase eibdaaeci daca CLAY 28, 1904 = SSS Memorial Day -Monday, May 30th EMORIAL DAY, with its hallowed memories will soon be here Throughout this great Republic, on the 30th day of May, our people unite in paying loving tribute to the Nation’s dead—the heroes who have falien upon the field of battle, or dropped beside the sunny paths of peace after sacrificing their physical strength for the love and glory of their country. A committee-has arranged for a program of exercises on Monday next in this city, in which Chattanooga Post, G. A. B., the Women’s Relief Oorps, Co, O, N. G, O., the school children and our citizens generally will join, and the day will be practically devoted to honoring the illustrious dead. The following will be the program as outlined; The members of Chattanooga Post and the Women’s Relief Corps will meet at LO. O. F. ball at 9:30 a, m. sharp. The parade will move promptly towards the cemetery promptly at 10 o’clock, in the following order: 1. Boys’ Band. Grand Marshal, Major P. F. Simonds. Company O, N. G. O. Chattanooga Post, G. A. B. School children. O.her organizations. Women’s Relief Corps in carriages. Officers of the day in carriages. . Citizens generally. On arriving at the cemetery, the procassion will diaband and the graves will be decorated. After the decoration of the graves all will assemble at the G. A. B, plot where the following dedicatory exercises will take place: Music—Boys’ Band. Prayer—Rev. J. H, Wythe. Quartet—Under the direction of Prof. J. B. Davis. Addrese—Rev. Josiah Sims. a; Benediction—Rev. W. A. Rimer. At the conclasion of the exercises the procession will re-form, returp to town and disband. The program-for the evening exercises at Armory Hall will begin at 8 o’clock sharp, and will be as follows: Calling to order by President of Day Hon. J. M. Walling. Music—Boys’ Band. Invocation—Rev. J. H. Wythe. Recitation, “The Riven Cube,” composed by E. M. Tyler—Mys. “Stella Bovey. Vocal music—Ohoir. Oration—Rev. I. R. Lovejoy of Stockton. “America”—Ohoir and audience. Benediction—Rev. Josiah Sime. All persons willing to donate flowers for the use of the Grand Army Post and Military Company are requested to send them to Armory Hall, Sandey evening not later than 8 p. m. Organizatione intending to take part in the parade are requested to notify Grand Marshal P. F. Simonds by 9 a. m. Monday morning. The committee earnestly requests ail business houses to close from 9 a. m, to 1 o’clock p.m in order that the merchants and clerks may join with the public generally in suitably observing the day. It is desired that all the school children join in the parade, and since the day will be observed as a holiday, there is no good reaéon why every pupil, other than those who may be ill or out of town, should not turn out. It is therefore hoped that several hundred of the pupils from the lowest to the highest grade will be in line when the procession moves, The W. B. O. and comrades of the G. A. R. will attend divine service at the Methodist church at 11 a. m. Sunday, May 29th. ‘The corps and comrades are requested to meet at I. 0.
