‘The Virginia Cit City Chronicle , of
Wednesday says: Alexander Miot,
an old pioneer both of California
and Nevada, died in this city Wednesday after a long and painful
illness, through which he was tenderly nursed and cared for by his
wife. Mr. Miot wasa native of
. } Columbia, South Carolina. He
came to California in 1849, and on
the breaking out of the Piute war,
in 1860, he came with his company from Downieville to this State
and served through that war as

to the privations and exposures
he was subjected toin 1860, during his military service, he contracted the seeds of the disease of
which he died, nearly 57 years of

Yesterday morning Dr. F. M.
Biber received a telegram from
death of 8. L. Terry at Stockton,
and the Doctor leaves on this
morning’s train to attend the funeral which takes place under the
auspices of the Knights of Pythias
in which order the deceased was a
Past Grand Chancellor. Although
ayoung man, Mr. Terry was one
of the ablest lawyers on the coast,
andhas already won for himself
on enviable reputation in the
State Legislature.
