CITY TRUSTEES MEET.
The Sewerage Movement—Hill Family
Starving Their Horses,:
Last evening the City Trustees: held
a special meeting. The committee previously appointed to ascertain the cost
of preparing plans and estimates for a
-sewer system, reported that such plans
would cost about $450. ‘The Board approved of their report and authorized
City Attorney Ford to draw up a preliminary resolution of intention to be
acted upon at the regular meeting next
Thursday night. :
Marshal Tompkins was instructed to

Fhe_Lick House.
The Lick House, San Francisco, is
the most. popular hostelry in San Francisco._It--is-nowunder the» management of George W, Kingsbury, the favorite hotel man of San Francisco.
The house is now being remodeled and
refurnished at an expense of over
' $60,000. All the rooms have been refurnished with new farniture, new carpets and everything tending to the
comfort and pleasure of the guests. It} Thomas Anderson, alias McCormick,
is a real home place, and as a family
hotel ranks secondtonone. The prices
are also very reasonable. It is the
headquarters of Nevada county people,
and those who have never stopped
there should give it a trial and they
will be surprised at the cordial treatment that they will receive at this
place, in comparison to the cold reception at other hotels in that city. A
large number of our citizens will attend the Miners’ Convention to be
-held in San Francisco a week from
next Monday and we advise them to
go tothe'Lick House, and verify ail we
say about this flue hotel.

Dead Man Found Hanging to a Tree
Near Grass Valley.
_ At noon today Sam Hodge and Wm.
Martin, who have been chopping wood
in the vicinity of Greenwood Cemetery
on the Rough and Ready road just west
of Grass Valley, came into town and
reported that they had seen the corpse
of a man hanging froma tree in the
forest. Coroner Hocking and a Tidings-Telegraph reporter went at once
to the scene and made an investigation.
The body was that of a dark-complexioned man, apparently an Italian, aged
60 or 52 years, who had been boarding
at the Wisconsin hotel for several
weeks and had been missing three and
a half days. He had probably been
dead twelve hours or more. The body
was suspended by a rope around the
neck, one end being fastened to a limb
above. Another rope hung down from
another limb aud was twisted around
the first one, His hands were fastened together behind the back with a’ slipnoose. .The first impression was that
a murder had been committed, but
after a thorough examination the coroner:came to conclusion. that_ it
was a case of suicide,

The meeting was very enthusiastic
and as there is only ten days to act before the State convention meets it is
urged on all committees to immediately get to work and make their returns as soon as_possible, as delegates
cannot be appointed by the executive
committee to the. State convention
until it is known how much money
is raised to forward tothe State Association. ay pe
Last evening the Association’s special
