Orrumwa, Ia., November 11—Bundreds of horrified spectators saw Thonias Baxter, an aged resident of Charlton, cremated in a fire which destroyed his residence. The blazing body could be seen through the window. It is thought Baxter was murdered and the house set on fire to conceal the crime. It Turned. The stockholders of the Oitizens Bank held their annual meeting last}, evening, aud the annual report of the President was received and a Board of Directors elected. The directors chosen were: John T. Morgan, John M. Thomas, O. E. Clinch, Lord Housman, George M. Hughes, D. E. Morgan and KE. M. Preston. President E. M. Preston’s report showed that the bank is-ina very prosperous condition. During the year preceding October 3tst, the paid up eapital stock of the bank was increaged $25,000, while $6000 wes placed in the reserve fand. With one exception the year just closed has been the most prosperous in the twenty-five years’ history of the bank.
