The fact that Nevada City is one of the few places in this State where the G. A. BR. Veterans have taken up the movement to erect suitable monuments over the graves of the departed heroes, calls forth the support and admiration of our people. This. in itself ought to bring out a large crowd to the coming birthday party on Wednesday evening. The entertainment to be given tomorrow night will be worth more than any amonnt which is desired for your entrance, even if you happen to bea centennarian. There will be a fine literary program and during the evening refreshmenis will be served. At the conclusion of the entertainment the hall will be cleared so that all who may desire may indulge in dancing for a few hours. Parties who wish to dance and cannot make it convenient to attend the entertainment can do so for 25 cents. Let everybody go to Armory Hall tomorrow night and show the G. A. R. Ore would not naturally think so, but it is a fact, however. A discovery has been made in Colorado for the extraction of gold from ores, and will be known as the Wynn process, after Professor Wynn, the discoverer. It consists of pulverising the ore, treating it in a tank with chemicals and then extracting the gold by fire. In the new process the gold rises with other matter as ascum. If it is what is claimed all other processes ever discovered have extrac'ed at the most but oue-fortieth of the gold in ores. Sev‘eral prominent scientists and others of that state have tested the process and say it is notafake, From 1000 pounds of ore tested Saturday a $60 gold button was extracted, while careful assayérs cculd find only $6a ton in the sauce ore. Mining men, according to press dispatches, are astounded at the results of the tests ‘made.
