One hundred carloads of gravel are being hoisted fromthe East Harmony mine every day, the value of which is about $2.50 per carload. A clean-up made recently, after & run of sevetiteen days, amounted to $3,2 It is the company’s intention to erect a ten-stamp mill iu Spring and to ifcrease the working force sé that 200 carloads of gravel can be sent out of the mine every day. James Reagan stole an overcoat valued at $12 and two clocks valued at $6, from Ferguson’s stable at Truckee. He was arrested, convicted of petty larceny and sentenced to 120 days in the county jail, Deputy Sheriff Ferguson brought the prisoner to this city today. e+ FREE COINAGE. Bland Ready With a Bill—Says Repeal Responsible for Hard Times. Wasnincton. Nov. 20.—The Silver men Propose to renew the silver fight as soon as} Congress meets. Bland says sufficient time has elapsed since thé repeal of the Sherman law to show that it is responsible for the hard times, and that its repeal instead of helping matters has made them worse by contracting the currency and making it harder for the debtor class to pay. He says he has private assurances from a large enough number of those who voted for repeal to make it evident. that he will get a majority in the house.for free coinage, and he has prepared a bill for early introduction which is a practical revival of the free coinage law of 1837, and makes silver coins of Philip Folk’s cabin were destroyed. It is brought to the county jail from Truckee all denominations full legal tender to any amouiit. It is his purpose net to push this bill at once, but to allow a reasonable time there should be a heavy reduction in the turiff and a lazge income tax imposed. pica tc Se SPS B SIG REAL LIFE ROMANCE. eee Married Yesterday. Curuurcorug, Mo., Nov. 20.—Spencer Gibbons, aged 61, and. Mrs. Penacy Mathews, aged 57, were married in this city tes day by Justice J, ©. Barekley. . The parties were both born in this county, ‘their parents being am: ng the first settlers, Forty years ago they were engayed to be married, but the lovers had a quarrel and Mr, Gib. bons went to California, where he remained for 15 years. Returning and finding the lady married he concluded to marry himself. . About a year ago both lost their com: panions and the love of olden times was rekindled with a happy ending today. They are among our best. people, and the bride’s parents were the first couple married in this county. Only One Ticket. An enthusiastic meeting of free coinage men was held at Butte, Montana, last Wednesday. It was attended by all the prominent men in ‘the State. They are determined to carry on the fight until they win. The report of the proceedings oceupies a column and a half of the Mmer. Gardemeyer, who was shot by Pecer Schmitt at Sutter City, died Saturday night from internal hemorrhage caused by the bullet wound. Died at Grass Valley. After an illness of abent two weeks, Mrs. Annie Pierce Thommasof, wife ef Jeff Thommason, died at her home on Alta Hill yesterday morning. She was aged about 28 years and a native of Cornwall, England.
