Of Intention Necessary To Be Passed
By the Board of Trustees.
WHEREAS, Application bas been made fora
franchise to erect and maintain poles, wires
and otherconductors for the tr namission of
electricity for telephone and telegraph purposes in and upon the streets, alleys and public highways in the city of Nevada, and to exercise the privi'ege of operating telephones
within the said city, for a term of twenty-five
(24) ye 18; and
WHEREAS, It is proposed to grant the same to
the nighest bidder, in the manner prescribed
by jaw. .
"Now, THEREFORE, BE 1T RESOLVED, That the
City Clerk be and he is hereby ins ructed to advertise in the DAILY TRANSCRIPT, # newspaper
published in the city of Nevada, State of California, for ten (10) consecutive days, the following notice of intention ‘o award a Franchise
granting the wforessd privileges to the highest
bidier; in the following words, to-wit:
NOTICE OF FALE OF FRANCHISE.
Notice is hereby given that the Board of
Trustees of the City of Nevada, County of Nevada, Stute of California, has received application for a Franc‘se to cunstruet, lay’ down, operate and mai: tain an electric telephone and

City of Nevada, for the ;eriod of twenty-five

same tothe highest bidder, and that the said

for the purpose of opening sealed roposals for
the purchiase’of a Franchise of the chrracter
and for the term set forth below, at which time
and place said Franchise will be awarded to
the highest bidder. The following is a copy
of the Ordinance which is proposed to be

SECTION 1. The City of Nevada hereby

sors and assigns, the right ard privilege to
place, lay, erect, maintain and operate in the
streets, alleys and puplic bighways within said
city, poles, wires ond other conductors for the
tripsmission of electricity for telephoue and
telegraph purposes.
SECTION 2. buch wires or conductors shall he
stretched upon poles or o‘hér fixtures above
ground in a workmanlike and pipes manner;
said poles shall be erected at the edge of the
sidewalks in raid City in a good and subst .ntial
manner and shall be painted. Said grantee and
its assigus shal) couse a wire to be placed in the
City Hall of said Citv with a proper receiver
and transmitter, which they shall keep in good
condition and which shail be open to use of ihe
City Marsha’, or other City Offieers at all times,
for police or fire alarm purposes, fres of charge.
Che Board of Trustees of seid City shali nave
the right to cause said grantee to move the lo
eation of any pole whenever the public convenfence shall require the loeativn of the same
elsewhere; the expense of such removal to be
paid by said grantee.
SECTION 3. The said grantee, or aesigus, may
make all necessary excavations in any of saic
strects, alleys or public high ways for the purpose
‘of ereeting aad maiotainiug poles or other supports for said wires or eonductors or repairing
the sam~, and said work shall be done in com—
pliance with the necessary rules, regulations,
-rdinances or orders which may, duriig the
continuance of this Franchise be adopted from
‘ime-to time by the Board of Trustees of said
City, and the same shall be done tothe satisfaction of the ssid Board of Trustees.
SECTION 4. Nothing in this ordinance shall
be congtrued asin anywiseto prevent the proper
authorities of said City of Nevada from sewerirg, grading, paving, pl-nking, repairing’ or a)
tering any of said stres’s or thoroughfares herein mentioned.
Section 5. In consid-ration of the rights
herein granted the suid City of Nevada sha!
